Since Armand Peugeot and the manufacture of his original quadricycle - the Type 2, dating from 1891 - the famous Lion brand, one of the oldest automobile companies still in business, has continued to demonstrate undeniable dynamism and unfailing creativity.
This book traces this formidable industrial and human saga, detailing for each essential model its genesis, its technical characteristics and its rating on the collector's market.
Peugeot - Les plus emblématiques 1950-2010 (Autofocus)
Who would have thought, at the beginning of the 1950s, that Peugeot PSA, a regional family business born in Sochaux, would become in 2021, under the name of Stellantis, the fourth largest manufacturer in the world following its merger with Fiat-Chrysler? This book opens with the 203, born at the end of the 1940s, the brand's only model, and ends with the RCZ of the 2010s. Thirteen models that have marked post-war history are thus highlighted.
In this book, we smell the scent of the 203 and 403 of the 1950s. We drive the 404 sedan and the Pininfarina coupe again. We take the wheel of a 204 convertible and a 406 coupe. We taste the softness of the seats of a 504 sedan and the comfort of the 604. We perceive the accelerations of a 505 Turbo as well as those of a 205 GTI 1.9 l before driving with the wind in your hair in a 206 CC and 504 convertible and then feeding your eyes with the timeless beauty of the RCZ. Have a good trip at the wheel of the most emblematic Peugeots of the last seventy years.
Presenting more than a century of production of the great Franche-Comté brand, such is the ambition of this encyclopedic work which analyzes, year after year, from 1889 to 2022, all the models and versions of automobiles and utility vehicles built by Peugeot. In 1889, Armand Peugeot launched into automobile construction, paving the way for the Peugeot Adventure, successively using steam, then gasoline, producing automobiles, trucks and utility vehicles which would bring him, from 1902, success and renown.
Technical innovations, sports results and all the adventures of the Montbéliard firm are analyzed and illustrated using unpublished documents and technical tables. An essential reference work for identifying a model, this chronological file provides a new perspective on the history of the automobile.

The 402 range, presented at the 1935 Paris Motor Show, combines modernism and balance. The grille, in the shape of an elongated heart housing the headlights, remains an essential characteristic of the car, as does the tapered rear end, bordered by sloping wings and equipped with skirts hiding the wheels. In addition, the Sochaux berlinetta innovates with its monocoque architecture and its 'bloctube' chassis. More than 78, 000 examples will be produced before the model is abandoned in 1941. The 202 range, unveiled in 1938, takes up the innovative general lines of its big sister the 402. The Peugeot 202 favorably accompanies the painful rebirth, in the post-war period, of the lion brand, a saving mission that will end in July 1949.
This book covers the entire history of the Peugeot 402-202. Numerous period documents, unpublished photos and technical characteristics of the different models.
V6: a letter and a number which, when put together, have something magical about them, at least in France, where V6-engined cars produced by French brands are a rare species. In the 1970s, Peugeot, among others, set out to produce a prestige model powered by a V6 engine. This book retraces this saga, introducing us to models with road characteristics considered world benchmarks, models whose technical development was sometimes laborious.
This book also reveals to us that this dream of grandeur that Peugeot has long nurtured was to find its culmination in a Peugeot with a V8 engine. We learn everything about Peugeot and Volvo's wishes on this subject, their questions, their hesitations and their discreet abandonment.
In addition to the vehicles marketed, let us also remember that these V6 engines have distinguished themselves in the most high-level competitions, and let us salute as it should the three victories in a row (2016, 2017 and 2018) of Peugeot in the most famous of rally-raids, the Dakar.
Highly anticipated not only by collectors, but also by lovers of beautiful cars, enthusiasts of the Peugeot brand and car history enthusiasts, this work would not have been possible without the valuable assistance of the Friends of Darl'mat association and its president, Philippe Boulay. A former collaborator of "Monsieur Émile", a historian in his spare time, he made the fruit of his research and the rich documentation that he has gathered over the years available to the author.
This abundant material has made it possible to produce an illustrated book with unpublished photos that paints a portrait of this Peugeot dealer turned manufacturer, hard worker, bold entrepreneur with a passion for motor racing. All the models he designed based on standard Peugeots are reviewed and placed in the context of their time. The technical innovations they benefited from are highlighted, as well as the men who accompanied Émile Darl'mat in his projects: the designer Georges Paulin, the coachbuilder Marcel Pourtout, the driver Charles de Cortanze and the artist Géo Ham.
