Humber Cars - The Post-war Years
Humber Cars began in 1899 when Thomas Humber produced the Humber Phaeton. The company manufactured various quality vehicles, but financial difficulties in the 1920s led to its acquisition in 1928. It became part of the Rootes Group, which included Hillman, Sunbeam, Singer, Commer, and Karrier. The Rootes brothers aimed to promote Humber as a prestige brand alongside Rover and Jaguar.
This book covers the story of Humber cars after World War II, focusing on models like the Hawk, Super Snipe, and Sceptre, and the marque's association with royalty and government. Humber's decline came in 1976. Stephen Lewis uses rare and previously unpublished images to tell the full story of Humber's post-war era.
