Il mistero 204 - La prima Abarth, l'ultima Cisitalia
This book examines the origins of the Cisitalia-Abarth 204, the car in which Nuvolari achieved the final victory of his remarkable career. It explains who really designed the model, why only eight units were planned, and how many were actually built. It also clarifies why a car created by Cisitalia was later linked to Carlo Abarth, and how the decline of Cisitalia led to the rise of the Abarth brand.
The book presents rare photographs and previously unpublished documents, including the contract between Cisitalia and Porsche for the construction of the F.1 360 Grand Prix car and other advanced projects. It also introduces the key figures who shaped this decisive period at the end of the 1940s, when the Abarth Scorpion became one of the leading names in automotive history.
A final chapter marks the centenary of engineer Giovanni Savonuzzi, creator of the Cisitalia 202 and other notable designs such as the Gilda prototype. It offers a concise overview of his work and his lasting influence, which was long overlooked.
