Tyrrell Racing - The Championship Years and Beyond
This book presents the full history of the Tyrrell Racing team through the eyes of one of its photographers. Founded in 1958 by Ken Tyrrell in Formula 3 and Formula 2, the team achieved early success in 1967 when Jacky Ickx won the Formula 2 class at the German Grand Prix in a Matra MS7. In 1968, Jackie Stewart secured three Grand Prix victories in the Matra MS10, followed in 1969 by the World Championship win with the Matra MS80.
The author captures the atmosphere of these formative years through clear text and period images. The book also follows Tyrrell's move from customer cars to its own designs, leading to immediate success in the early 1970s, including Drivers' and Constructors' Championships in 1971. Over the next two seasons, the team won nine Grands Prix.
Later chapters cover the gradual decline, with fewer victories, the final Grand Prix win in 1983, and the end of the Tyrrell name in 1998. The book concludes by tracing Tyrrell's lasting influence, still visible in today's Mercedes-AMG F1 team. With contributions from Jackie Stewart and Bob and Kenneth Tyrrell, and 180 official photographs, it offers a concise and authoritative account.
