Cars - Japan: Illustrated History Books & Guides

Explore the best illustrated books on Japanese cars. Discover the history, models and evolution of automobiles from Japan.

Complete Catalog of Japanese Motor Vehicles

This illustrated catalog presents a detailed overview of the early Japanese motor industry as it entered the global market. With over 600 black-and-white photographs, it offers a clear view of Japan's automotive development and the manufacturers that would later become major players in the industry.

During his visit to Japan, Floyd Clymer arranged with the Japan Motor Industrial Federation to obtain the U.S. publishing rights. The catalog was first published in the United States under the same title in 1961.

This publication is a valuable reference for those interested in Japanese motor vehicles and automotive history. It documents many early manufacturers, some of which no longer exist or have since become part of today's large Japanese car companies. Many of the featured vehicles are now considered rare and collectible.

Legendäre japanische Sportwagen

Sports cars are not only made in Zuffenhausen and Maranello: Japanese car manufacturers also have a long and successful tradition in this segment. Just think of the futuristic Mazda 110 S Cosmo, which wowed audiences in 1967 with its Wankel technology, and the Toyota 2000 GT, with which James Bond raced through the land of the rising sun in "You Only Live Twice".
Over the decades, an almost unmanageable number of models have been created, ranging from small two-seaters to super sports cars.

In this lovingly designed illustrated book, Thomas Imhof goes in search of the most exciting Japanese cars and brings Asian automotive history to life in breathtaking photographs.

  • From Toyota 2000 to Nissan GT-R: History and background of the best sports cars from the Far East
  • Compact illustrated book with over 100 photos of well-known and unknown car models
  • Technical data on numerous model variants, special models and rare exotics
  • With car icons such as Toyota 2000 GT, Honda NSX and Subaru Impreza WRX STi
