Henschel Hs 126 (Camera On)

This book is a detailed photographic study of the Henschel Hs 126, a two-seat reconnaissance and army cooperation aircraft used by the Luftwaffe. Conceived at Henschel Flugzeug Werke, the Hs 126 first flew in 1936 and entered service in 1937-1938.

Powered by a Bramo 323 radial engine producing about 850 hp, it had a parasol wing design, fixed landing gear, and carried a crew of two. The aircraft saw early combat use with the Legion Condor in Spain, and later served widely in WWII for reconnaissance, artillery spotting, and liaison duties.

Although it was gradually replaced in front line service by 1942, the Hs 126 continued in secondary roles such as glider towing and night harassment flights.

Henschel-Flugzeuge 1933–1945

Even after more than 75 years, the achievements of the Henschel aircraft factory, active for only 12 years, remain impressive. All ten Henschel models deserve special recognition.

The author began collecting materials for a Henschel type book early, as he, like many others, was surprised by how little was known about these remarkable aircraft.

The long process of gathering and selecting documents, along with support from friends and colleagues, allowed this book to be completed. It provides as complete and accurate a history of Henschel aircraft as possible.
