German and Austro-Hungarian Aircraft Manufacturers

Much has been written about the British aircraft of the First World War, but little has surfaced about the aircraft of the Axis powers, Germany and Austria. Here, Terry C. Treadwell tells the story of the aircraft from companies such as Fokker, builder of the famous triplane, as flown by Baron von Richthofen's Flying Circus, AEG, Albatros, Junkers and Hansa.

From reconnaissance aircraft to state-of-the-art bombers that could reach London, this is the definitive guide to aircraft of the Axis powers during the First World War. The aircraft are explained in detail and a history of each company is provided, making this an excellent source book for aircraft enthusiasts, model makers and those interested in the air war over the trenches of France and Belgium, as well as further afield in the Italian campaign.

Die Flugzeuge und Hubschrauber des Österreichischen Bundesheeres (von 1955 bis heute) / Airplanes and Helicopters of the Austrian Armed Forces (from 1955 to Today)

With the signing of the Austrian State Treaty on May 15, 1955, the rebuilding of the Austrian Air Force began. On July 15, 1955, the Office for National Defense was established, and on September 13, Department III/L (Air) was created under Major Josef Bizek.

The official birth of the new Air Force was on December 9, 1955, when Police Lieutenant Colonel Gustav Hauck took off at 10: 01 a.m. with the Jakowlew Jak-18 (3A-AB), a gift from the Soviet Union, from Fliegerhorst Brumowski in Langenlebarn. It was the first flight of an Austrian-marked aircraft after more than 17 years.
The initial equipment of the Federal Army was modest, mainly gifts and cheaply acquired used equipment from the former occupying powers.

This book by aviation expert Rudolf Höfling documents all aircraft and helicopters acquired or leased by the Austrian Armed Forces from 1955 to today, including the Jakowlew Jak-18, Bell 47G2, Saab J 29F Tonne, Saab 350E Draken, and Eurofighter EF 2000, with detailed texts and numerous illustrations.

Die k. u. k. Luftfahrtruppen - Zur Geschichte von Österreich-Ungarns 'Luftakrobaten'

Although the Danube Monarchy had been one of the leading states in the field of aviation in the years before 1914, it was only possible to send air companies into the field with great effort when the war broke out. Because the aircraft available was not suitable for war, aircraft and engines had to be bought in a hurry from the allied Germany.
In 1915, it was finally possible to boost aircraft production and pilot training. Towards the end of the war, however, the general economic exhaustion of Austria-Hungary and the superiority of the Allies became noticeable.

In this book, Walter Blasi and Bernhard Tötschinger create a unique monument to the Imperial and Royal Aviation Corps. They outline the history of these young troops and have compiled a large number of previously unpublished images. The result is a fascinating depiction of this previously barely documented part of Austro-Hungarian military history.

From the contents:
- The beginning of military aviation "heavier than air" in the Danube Monarchy;
- Camillo Castiglioni - the master of the aviation industry;
- The heroes of the skies;
- The naval pilots of the Imperial and Royal Navy;
- The aircraft factories in Austria-Hungary;
- What was left of the Imperial and Royal Aviation Corps.
