Akafliegs (Academic Flying Groups) are German gliding clubs that are based at a university and whose members are primarily university staff. The main goals of the flying groups are the development and construction of gliders as well as aeronautical research. Numerous groundbreaking designs and series aircraft prototypes have already been created in their environment.
To this day, Akafliegs are considered to be a source of ideas and inspiration for all of gliding and glider construction.
