Les Renault 9 et 11 de mon père

The Renault 9 was born in September 1981. With the consensual appearance of a three-box saloon, it was the result of a cultural and industrial revolution at the Régie and its homogeneity soon earned it the title of "Car of the Year". A year and a half later, the Renault 11 appeared; this false twin of the 9, which was distinguished by its tailgate and layout, was intended to replace the Renault 14.

Soon, the new Renaults revealed their potential. In addition to Europe, they would invest in four continents and be assembled in Taiwan, Zaire, Colombia and Portugal. But the duo also became the spearhead of another conquest.
The takeover of the American Motors manufacturer led the Régie to design versions adapted to the New Continent, under the names of "Alliance" and "Encore".

La Renault Fuego de mon père

This book traces the iconic journey of the Renault Fuego, successor to the Renault 15 and 17, produced from 1980 to 1992 in more than 260 000 units. Recognized in France and America, it shares several technical characteristics with the Renault 18. Presented for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1980, it aroused the interest of car enthusiasts, despite some initial reluctance.

Renault compared its coupe to German competitors. With the introduction of the 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine, sales increased, making the Fuego the best-selling coupe in Europe in 1981 and the fastest Turbo Diesel coupe in the world in 1983. It was also the first coupe to run on diesel.

Phase 2, launched in 1984, brought aesthetic and technical changes. The Renault Fuego also found success in America, first in the North, then in South America until the early 1990s.
