Lotus Elise and Exige 1995-2020 - The Complete Story
Named after Elisa, the granddaughter of Lotus's owner at the time, Romano Artioli of Bugatti fame, the Lotus Elise was launched at the Frankfurt Show in 1995. In the subsequent twenty-five years it has not only established itself as the embodiment of what Lotus stands for, it retains a unique place in the international sports car market. No other manufacturer came up with a car to seriously rival the Elise, nor the Exige, in terms of handling dexterity on both road and racetrack, and it aptly characterizes the definition of a sports car. The production of the Elise and Exige was sustained through four corporate upheavals. Now in Geely ownership, the future for Lotus looks bright.
Written in Johnny Tipler's inimitable style this book includes: - A detailed evolution of the Elise and Exige, including full specification tables - Interviews with key individuals involved in their design and development, including Richard Rackham, Gavan Kershaw, Neil Thomas, Russell Carr, Barney Hatt and Andy Pleavin - Elisa Artioli on her namesake, its past and future - Motor sport adaptions and successes - Driving experiences on road and track.

The Lotus Elise is a small English sports car manufactured by Lotus, with a roadster body with a roll cage. The Elise marks the revival of Lotus in the small sports car category in the 1990s: it constitutes a return to the very roots of the brand, after the failure of the front-wheel drive Elan M100.
Radical, the Elise is a basic sports car without assistance or worry about finishing; which allows to contain the price: 165 000 F at its launch in France in 1996. Which quickly ensures it a big international success. Today, the Elise is in its third generation and Lotus is largely out of trouble economically.
The book is structured as always in the Autofocus collection in a series of chapters retracing in chronological order the career of the model and its many versions: from the first series to the current one, including the special versions (limited series) and the coupé version called Exige, all the Elises will be approached via an educational text and original and unpublished photos.
