This book, written by Jean-Pierre Gabriel, recounts the history of cars equipped with Dino engines, developed under the vision of Enzo Ferrari. The journey began in the 1950s with projects like the Ferrarina, the "Mille, " and the Innocenti 186 GT. In 1966, Fiat introduced the Dino coupes and convertibles, featuring a V6 engine designed in memory of Alfredo Ferrari, Enzo's son. Simultaneously, the Dino 206 GT, the first mid-engine car developed by Ferrari and Pininfarina, marked a turning point. It was replaced in 1969 by the Dino 246 GT, whose engine also powered the legendary Lancia Stratos, three-time rally champion between 1974 and 1976. The Dino V6 later gave way to the V8 on models like the 308 GT4, followed by the 308 and 328 GTB/GTS. The story culminates with icons such as the Ferrari 288 GTO and the F40.
The book offers a detailed analysis of the models and prototypes, enriched by testimonies from engineers and designers. Illustrated with numerous unpublished documents, it pays tribute to these landmark creations. This is not a reissue but an entirely new work dedicated to Dino and Ferrari cars.
