Cadillac Fleetwood Series Seventy-Five Limousines 1937-1987
Cadillac has long been General Motors' luxury car division. In the 1980s, its management aimed to restore the brand's reputation for innovation, refinement, and prestige. Engineers developed the Northstar, a dual-overhead cam V-8 engine with four valves per cylinder. It was the core of the Northstar System, which also included advanced suspension and braking technology. Cadillac redesigned its models to incorporate these improvements for the 1990s and beyond. The Northstar was the last engine fully developed by Cadillac before GM Powertrain took over engine design in 2005.
This book explores the history of the Northstar V-8 and the cars it powered, including the first-generation front-wheel-drive version, the second-generation rear-wheel-drive model, and the supercharged variant. It also covers Cadillac's racing history and the most collectible Northstar-equipped models.
