Volkswagen Coccinelle, populaire et universelle (Top Model)

The legendary Beetle has broken all records for longevity and production, with almost sixty years of career to its credit and more than 21, 500, 000 units assembled. A curious destiny for a car born in 1938 and intended to serve the ideological designs of the Nazi regime, which would become after the war the symbol of the German economic miracle.
The Beetle would conquer the world - more peacefully this time - the muse of America and the rebellious youth of the 1960s. And yet, in 1945, many people predicted no future for it. An exciting epic that only ended in 2003, when the last Beetle rolled off the assembly line at the Puebla factory in Mexico.

Coccinelle - La VW Type 1 dans tous ses états (Autofocus)

The one affectionately called the Beetle is a German car with an extraordinary destiny. This car, ordered by the Führer and designed by a certain Ferdinand Porsche, could have never been marketed.
Introduced in 1938, the Second World War reduced it to exclusively military use. It would be necessary to wait for the victory of the Allies in 1945 and the reconstruction of the Wolfsburg factory by the English army for both the Volkswagen brand and the Type 1 model to have a second chance.
With its design that evokes good humor and its practical and economical aspect, the most famous of VWs would quickly be adopted by motorists around the world.

In 65 years of existence, the Beetle has remained on the same line of conduct, while evolving over the kilometers. This book brings together 13 models that represent different styles that the Type 1 was able to adopt in the universe that it has created. Classic, high-performance, fun or simply charming, the Beetle is put in all its states throughout the pages of this book.

Coccinelle - Triomphe de la voiture populaire

In turn civilian then military, before returning to its original purpose as a robust and reliable popular car, the Volkswagen Beetle, the brilliant invention of Dr. Ferdinand Porsche, has entered the annals of automotive history. With a career spanning more than forty years, and more than twenty million units produced, the Beetle is one of the most famous cars in the world.

This work paints a portrait of it based on documentation that is both precise and lively, evoking this era of the return of prosperity after the disasters of the Second World War when the Beetle triumphed on all the roads on all the continents.

Technical documents, color illustrations, everything is done to illustrate the innumerable variants of this automobile icon that the little VW has become, right up to the "Beetle", its reincarnation of the third millennium.

Volkswagen Maggiolino (Beetle)

Some cars are able to transcend time to become real phenomena of their period. One member of this special category is the Volkswagen Beetle, the ingenious car designed by Ferdinand Porsche during the second half of the 1930s, of which more than 20 million examples were sold. And with the appearance of the New Beetle, the legend was renewed to live on to our days.

That is why it seemed almost a duty to update the book on the Beetle that was first published in 1989 and was reprinted many times, recounting the story of this evergreen car from the prototypes right the way through all the successive versions. The book does not omit the various body builders who worked with this car, nor does it turn its back on the technical and commercial history of the New Beetle, which has its own section in the publication. This "phenomenon on four wheels" is illustrated with hundreds of pictures and drawings and is accompanied by an accurate and rigorous text.
