Jezreel Valley Mysteres : The Mystere Iva in Israeli Air Force Service, Squadron 109, 1956-1968

Israel acquired sixty-one Dassault Mystere IVA combat aircraft from France that were delivered to the Israeli Air Force from April to September 1956 and were issued to two units: Squadron 101 at Hatzor, in the south, and Squadron 109 at Ramat David, in the north.
From 1956 until 1959, and to a lesser extent from 1959 until 1962, the Mystere was the ILAF's cutting-edge interceptor.

From 1959, the Mystere's main mission shifted from air-to-air to air-to-ground, as more modern interceptors - Super Mystere from 1959 and Mirage from 1962 - entered Israeli Air Force service. At the same time, the Israeli Air Force initiated an effort to introduce an attack aircraft to succeed the Mystere.
The Squadron 109 Mystere era therefore covered mostly air-to-air from 1956 until 1962 and mostly air-to-ground from 1962 until 1968.

Dassault Super Etendard

The Dassault Super Étendard, which became the Super Étendard Modernisé in due course, had a remarkable career. It was a humble aircraft that was often faced with thankless and difficult tasks. There was no excessive power in this aircraft, but simply a remarkable versatility that made it the backbone of French carrier aviation for 40 years.
Solid, reliable, well-designed, and adaptable, the Super Étendard was an aircraft that France regularly upgraded, enabling it to maintain its rank with increasingly sophisticated equipment and armaments.

It gained notoriety for its role in anti-ship missions flown by Argentinian pilots, but paradoxically, France never used it in combat in this role. On the other hand, the aircraft was extensively used as a bomber in numerous wars, in a variety of places, including Lebanon, Syria, Yugoslavia, and Afghanistan.
With over 160 images, this book looks at the history of the Super Étendard and the impact it had on aviation.

Prototypes expérimentaux Dassault 1960-1980

Marcel Dassault's company developed experimental military prototype aircraft from versions of the Mirage III, which, although they did not have an operational career, contributed to the technical progress incorporated into other types of aircraft produced in series.

First there was vertical take-off and landing flight, with three prototype aircraft, the: Balzac V 001, Mirage III V 01, Mirage III V 02 and with two test bench aircraft for the engines, the: Mirage III T 01 and Mirage III F2; then came the flight with variable geometry wings, with three prototype aircraft, the: Mirage G, Mirage G8 01, Mirage G8 02.

For Switzerland, at the end of the 1960s, the Milan S 01 was developed with new avionics equipment and with movable lifting surfaces for improved flight and weapons performance.
Finally, the Super Mirage 4000, a prototype with exceptional performance, which was not retained for budgetary reasons.

To date, no book traces and brings together the genesis and complete history of these Dassault Mirage experimental prototypes. From the context of the different periods covered, the book describes the development of these prototype aircraft through their technical definition, construction and testing, in connection with the changing needs of the Air Force.
The book includes many original period documents, illustrations and photographs, most of which have never been published, and is based on exceptional testimonies collected by the author for nearly twenty years from the major players in these programs.

Le MD 450 Ouragan

Developed by Marcel Dassault engineers in the late 1940s, the MD 450 Ouragan was the first French jet fighter to be mass-produced. The first of three prototypes took off on February 28 1949, with test pilot Constantin Rozanoff at the controls.

From November 1950, Dassault produced fourteen pre-production aircraft. On December 5 1951, the first production aircraft flew for the first time. A total of 350 were built, 185 of which were financed by the American military aid program.
After an operational career in the Air Force, it served in the fighter schools of Meknes (Morocco) and Tours. It was exported to India and Israel, which used it in several conflicts. A few survivors were sold to El Salvador in 1975.

This monograph offers an in-depth study of the Ouragan, with multiple photographs, color profiles and also the career of each of the 350 aircraft built, not only in the Air Force, but also in the Israeli, Indian and Salvadoran air forces.
Never before has such a sum been devoted to the MD 450 Ouragan.
