Saab 35 Draken Flying with the European Air Forces (Duke Hawkins)

The Swedish Saab Draken was the first jet to perform the "Cobra" maneuver, where the aircraft pitched vertically, stalled, and then recovered by sharply lowering its nose - long before the Russian Flanker.

This book provides a detailed look at the compact, double-delta fighter, with exclusive photographs from the Swedish Air Force Historic Flight. A dedicated chapter explores the cockpit, covering both single-seat and two-seat variants. Additionally, stunning air-to-air action images showcase the Draken in flight, making this an essential volume for aviation enthusiasts.

Saab 37 Viggen

The Saab 37 Viggen is a Swedish single-seat, single-engine combat aircraft designed for short to medium range operations. Saab began developing the aircraft in 1952, and it made its first flight on February 8, 1967. The Viggen entered service on June 21, 1971, becoming the first canard design to be produced in large numbers.

The aircraft was built in several versions for different roles: the AJ 37 strike fighter, SF 37 for aerial reconnaissance, SH 37 for maritime patrol, and SK 37 as a two-seat trainer. In the late 1970s, the JA 37 all-weather fighter-interceptor version was introduced. The Swedish Air Force retired the Viggen in November 2005.

This book is the most complete English-language publication about the Viggen to date. It includes many photographs of the aircraft in service, including several never published before, walkaround photographs of preserved aircraft, illustrations from original manuals, and original color artwork.
