Landmaschinen und Traktoren der DDR 1945-1990
NEW
In the first postwar years, agriculture in East Germany urgently needed new equipment. Tractor production in the Soviet Occupation Zone, which became the German Democratic Republic in October 1949, began under very difficult conditions.
In 1951, the creation of the Fortschritt combine in Neustadt/Sachsen led to a concentration of the agricultural machinery industry. Eventually, only the Schönebeck tractor factory remained among the many original producers.
Over the years, this led to a surprisingly diverse range of tractors and agricultural machines produced in the GDR.
Frank Rönicke's book documents this development clearly, providing a comprehensive overview of the technology, manufacturers, and distinctive features of vehicles from this period.
