Dornier Wal - de eerste grote zeeverkenner van de Marine Luchtvaartdienst
Among the major flying boats used by the Naval Air Service before the Second World War, the Dornier Wal held a special position. It was the first maritime reconnaissance aircraft delivered in series to the Royal Navy in the Dutch East Indies, where it served for almost eighteen years.
This twin-engine high-wing aircraft also became important in Dutch civil aviation. As the first all-metal flying boat, it was built under licence by Aviolanda in Papendrecht from 1927 onward.
The book provides a clear overview of the development, operational use and significance of the Dornier Wal.
