Die Marineflieger der Bundeswehr - Piloten und ihre Maschinen
The naval aviators are an important element within the security policy concept of the Federal Republic of Germany and within the NATO alliance. Since the establishment in 1957, there have been 18 types of aircraft in the flying fleet of the German naval forces. From the Pembroke to the Orion, the Sykamore to the Sea King, from the Sea Hawk to the Tornado. All of the machines are presented in this compendium by the people who flew with them. Men who know their way around naval aviation. Authentic, professional and often seasoned with a pinch of humor. These contemporary witnesses tell their very personal, often dramatic experiences and have also contributed images from their private photo albums. In addition, in-depth technical details provide information about what the aircraft were capable of.
The classification of the aircraft shown follows the chronology of their commissioning, and is divided into the categories of propeller planes, helicopters and jets. On 240 pages with around 500 mostly unpublished photos, the reader is given a comprehensive look at the flying component of the Federal Navy and the German Navy. This is not a documentation with objective and sober treatises, but an exciting narrative book that, in addition to the insider knowledge of its protagonists, can boast in-depth technical details and previously little-known findings.

Hubschrauber und Propellerflugzeuge der Bundeswehr - seit 1955
Strahlflugzeuge der Bundeswehr - seit 1955 (Typenkompass)
Of all aircraft types, the jet-powered variants are certainly among the most fascinating machines. Especially in the military sector, this type of aircraft often represents the technological spearhead of its time.
From the first, rather tame jet models of the early 1950s to "manned rockets" such as the Starfighter and the highly technological Eurofighter, this Typenkompass describes all of the Bundeswehr's jet aircraft. It also takes into account the latest developments such as fully autonomous drones, whose role will become increasingly important in the future. As always with the Typenkompass, with all the important data in text, images and tables.
