Triumph TR2, 3 & 3A in Detail
The subject of this book is the TR2 and the "sidescreen" TRs that were directly related to it, the TR3 and the TR3A. These cars were powered by versions of Standard-Triumph's wonderfully robust wet-liner Standard Vanguard engine.
The author opens with an exposition of the back-ground to the creation of the TR2 via the unsatisfactory TS20 model exhibited at the 1952 London motor show. Then comes a detailed technical description and analysis of the TR2, covering all aspects of the chassis, running gear, engine and transmission. This sets the scene for subsequent chapters on the TR3 and TR3A, each of which receives comprehensive treatment.
Also provided is extensive coverage of the TRs' successful participation in motor sport, including Le Mans and international rallies, and comparisons are drawn between the TR2s and 3s and rival models like the Austin-Healey 100 and the MGA. Finally there is advice on the practicalities of owning and using the cars today.
Outstanding examples of each model have been specially photographed for this book, and these pictures feature alongside approximately 250 illustrations drawn from the archives and from sales and publicity material.
Triumph TR2 & TR3 - All models, including 3A & 3B (1953-1962) - Essential Buyer's Guide
The Triumph TR2 and TR3 were the heralds of a long-running line of Triumph Sports Cars, culminating in the futuristic TR7 of the 1970s. They were truly sporting cars, suitable for competition and enjoyable fast road motoring. The quintessential British Sports Car of the 1950s, more than 83,000 side-screen TRs were produced, which contributed greatly to British manufacturing prestige - and the postwar economy - with approximately 90% being exported, principally to the USA and Canada.
This book is written with the sole aim of giving prospective buyers key knowledge to choose the best example available according to budget. It covers models TR2, TR3, TR3A, and the rare TR3B, produced between 1953 and 1962. All aspects of the car are examined in detail and with many illustrations to back up the text.
There is also advice on such matters as non-period modifications. Since the 1980s, the TR models have become finite in number, much cherished by owners, and increased in value, making it very important to know and understand the points to look for, as well as the potential pitfalls of choosing a rogue example.

Original Triumph TR - The Restorers' Guide to TR2, TR3, TR3A, TR3B, TR4, TR4A, TR5, TR250, TR6
Considered among the most desirable sports cars ever built, Triumph's TR series were renowned for their strong performance, rugged construction and iconic styling. Among the ranks of affordable sports cars, these legendary British automobiles introduced a host of innovations, including front disc brakes, independent rear suspensions and petrol injection, making them perennial sales and competition champions.
From the stillborn 20TS prototype, Triumph developed the revolutionary TR2, which debuted as the fastest model in its class and spawned the bestselling TR3 and TR3A. With Italianate styling from Giovanni Michelotti, the TR4 and TR4A represented a whole new direction for the range, while the TR5 became a performance standout with its Lucas petrol injection. The evergreen TR6 represented the final chapter for the traditional 'hairychested' British roadster, closing the book on one of the most successful families in motoring history.
Award-winning historian John Nikas examines the design and development of the various TR models, while also detailing the competition record that made Triumph such a formidable opponent on the track and international rally circuit. With readable and engaging prose set against beautiful colour portraits by Marc Vorgers and rare period photographs, this book provides all the information you need about TR sports cars.
