AMG Mercedes - Elégance et puissance

This book tells the story of AMG, the high-performance division of Mercedes-Benz. It began in the 1960s when engineers Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher worked on tuning a Mercedes 300 SE race engine in their spare time.
Growing demand from car owners seeking more power led to the creation of AMG, named after Aufrecht, Melcher, and Grossaspach - Aufrecht's hometown.

In 1971, an AMG-prepared 300 SE won its class in the 24 Hours of Spa, marking the start of AMG's reputation in motorsport. From the 1970s through the 1990s, AMG modified various Mercedes models, achieving numerous racing successes. In 1999, Daimler-Mercedes acquired AMG, making it the official performance branch of the company.

The book documents this history with original photographs, archive materials, technical data, and interviews. It features key models from the 1970s to 2021, including the iconic Hammer and more recent AMG vehicles, along with a look at future developments.
