Les autobus parisiens dans les années 1960
On the evening of January 22, 1971: the last Parisian Renault TN4HP bus on line 21 returned to the depot: it was the end of the open-platform buses that had been, for several decades, a staple of the landscape and atmosphere of the streets of Paris. Despite their anachronism, they were loved by Parisians who have not forgotten them.
Through the author's period photos, all unpublished, this book evokes the 1960s which saw the gradual disappearance of these buses in favor of more modern vehicles. We find them line by line in Paris as well as in the suburbs, which has, in passing, the merit of making us rediscover the daily life of an era in full change.
Saviem only existed for twenty-five years, from 1956 to 1980, but its coaches and buses occupied a prominent place in France during this quarter of a century. It is to these tireless workers in the shadows, these mechanical actors of a daily life, omnipresent in our cities as in our countryside, that this book pays tribute.
Saviem is the fruit of the association of six French manufacturers who participated in the great French automobile adventure, more particularly in the field of passenger transport, and in its extraordinary expansion during the 20th century. This book aims to make you discover or rediscover these disappeared brands that are Chausson, Floirat, Isobloc, Latil, Somua, without forgetting the Régie Nationale des Usines Renault.
Summary: 1/ Saviem: a group of manufacturers with varied contributions. 2/ 1956-1965, the creation of a rational offer. 3/ 1965-1980, Saviem, the leading coach manufacturer.
Paris Autobus insolite - De l'omnibus à chevaux au bus électrique, deux siècles d'histoire
The history of Parisian buses dates back to 1828, with the emergence of horse-drawn omnibuses. The advent of the automobile omnibus during the Belle Époque replaced the coachman with a conductor and the grooms with mechanics. The models evolved, introducing an imperial during the Belle Époque, followed by a memorable rear platform.
Today, carrying more than three million passengers daily, the challenges of Parisian buses are ecological. The author presents the captivating history of these iconic vehicles. He offers a unique perspective on the evolution of Parisian buses, from their beginnings to the present day.

Paris Autobus insolite - De l'omnibus à chevaux au bus électrique, deux siècles d'histoire
Like every morning, the noisy and smelly bus heading to the "Nord" high school in Marseille makes its way through the dense traffic on Rue de Lyon... In front of us, the imposing and silent VA3B2 of line 26 makes its last journey, before being taken out of service and sent to Saint-Étienne!
It is 1971 and Marc Bargier remembers... Indeed, since 1902/1904, many trolleybuses have traveled the streets of Marseille and the roads of Bouches-du-Rhône. To pay tribute to these vehicles, their drivers, and the thousands of daily users, all the vehicles in the network are listed. Old newspaper articles and yellowed photographs revive memories of Marseille transport, at the time of the first works for the tramway of the 3rd millennium.
