Duple Coachbuilders - From Domination to Demise (Nostalgia Road)
Duple Bodies & Motors Ltd was a major British bus and coach bodybuilder. Founded in North London after World War I, it grew over the following decades and became a key player in the industry after World War II. The company had a strong partnership with Bedford, producing iconic designs for models like the OB and the three-axle VAL. In the postwar years, Duple became a leading coach bodybuilder, acquiring competitors such as Burlingham. However, industry changes and the decline of chassis manufacturers like Bedford and Ford led to a gradual decline. The company's last factory, in Blackpool, closed in 1989. This book chronicles the history of Duple, one of the most significant names in British bus and coach building.

For seventy years, Duple was one of the leading coachbuilders in Britain. Founded in Hornsey, London, in 1919, the company later moved to Blackpool and became a major supplier of luxury coach bodies in the UK. A decline in new vehicle sales in the late 1980s led to its closure in 1989. This book focuses on the period from 1972 and highlights the Dominant body range and its high-floor version, the Goldliner. It provides a brief description of each body type and features 180 color photographs with informative captions, showcasing Duple's most notable designs during their peak years.
