Henschel Lastwagen 1925-1974 (Typenkompass)

Fondée à Kassel en 1816, la fonderie et usine de machines était l'une des plus importantes entreprises allemandes et opérait sous le nom de Henschel-Werke en 1957. Spécialisée dans la construction de locomotives et les technologies d'armement, elle fut rachetée par Rheinstahl en 1964, avant que sa production de camions ne soit finalement intégrée à celle de Hanomag en 1969 et qu'elle ne disparaisse du marché en 1974.

Malgré ces hauts et ces bas, des camions poids lourds de grande qualité et au design emblématique furent produits sous la marque à l'étoile à six branches. Aujourd'hui, Henschel est considérée comme une icône de l'histoire des véhicules utilitaires allemands.

The Henschel family has shaped life in Kassel for six generations. Founded in 1810 by Georg Christian Carl Henschel as a foundry, the Henschel works developed into one of the most important machine and vehicle factories in Germany.
Over the decades, they have experienced all the highs and lows: inflation and the global economic crisis, the time as an armaments factory during the Second World War, the post-war years.

"Henschel is Kassel and Kassel is Henschel, " they said at the time. The Henschel family has always shown that economic success and social responsibility go hand in hand.
All of that is long gone. And yet, for example, the Sophie-Henschel-Platz in front of the Red Cross Hospital and the university on the site of the old main factory are reminders of the Henschel family.

In his richly illustrated book, author Thomas Siemon tells the story of the rise and fall of a large and influential family business. He portrays the entrepreneurial personalities who have given Henschel a face over the years and recalls the close connection between the factory and the city of Kassel.

Henschel HS 140: Das Lastwagen Typenalbum

After a forced break of several years, the Kassel-based Henschel works were able to build trucks of their own design again in 1949. The first was a six-ton truck, which was given the name HS 6 in keeping with its payload. A Lanova six-cylinder diesel engine operated under the elegant long hood.
When the impressive trucks went into series production in 1950, they were given the type designation HS 140 due to their engine power of 140 hp. The series remained in the range until 1961, most recently with 192 hp.

All model series of the HS 140 type as well as the more powerful hooded trucks HS 150 and HS 170 are presented here in words and pictures. The largely previously unpublished images show the trucks in their environment with a variety of body variants and in different applications.
The presentation is completed by original documents such as brochure prints and detailed technical data tables.
