Die Aufzeichnungen für ein Henschel-Typenbuch hat der Autor schon frühzeitig begonnen, denn er empfand es wie andere auch als unverständlich und unwürdig, wie wenig von den interessanten Henschel-Flugzeugen bekannt war.
Doch erst die lang andauernde Arbeit des Zusammentragens und Auswählens von Unterlagen, aber vor allem auch die Hilfe von Bekannten und Freunden, ob mit Wort oder mit Tat, ohne die eine möglichst wahrheitsgetreue und möglichst umfangreiche Geschichte nicht auskommt, brachte es zustande, dass dieses Buch über die Henschel-Flugzeuge nun vorliegt.
