Scania Double-Deckers

Scania's first venture into the British double-decker bus market came in 1973, when with partner MCW, based in Birmingham, they produced the 'Metropolitan' double-decker. In 1980, after a brief hiatus, Scania re-entered the British double-decker market with a chassis for bodying by all the major UK builders.

London's Scania Buses

Since 1989, Scania has supplied various bus models for operation in London. In the early 1990s, London Buses Limited acquired a notable batch of Scania N113CRBs, bodied by Alexander and Northern Counties, which later passed to private operators in 1994.
Scania returned to London in 2002 when Metrobus added single-deckers to its fleet. Between 2006 and 2012, the Scania N94UD and OmniCity double-deck models were popular with several operators.

Although fewer in number than competing brands, Scanias provided reliable service for many years. With new vehicles and standardization, they were eventually phased out of London's streets.
This book presents a concise history of Scania buses during their years of service in the capital.
