La Rancho de mon père

The Matra-Simca Rancho, produced from 1977 to 1984 with 56.457 units, embodies the freedom and outdoor lifestyle of the 1970s.
Philippe Guédon conceived a "green car" between the Méhari and Range Rover, based on the Simca 1100 pick-up VF2. The aim was a leisure vehicle with a 4x4 look, suitable for families and outdoor activities.

Powered by a 1442 cm³ engine, the Rancho was a front-wheel drive with off-road capability, ideal for country roads and paths. Its generous cargo space (1005-2200 dm3) also appealed to tradespeople and merchants.

This richly illustrated book details the history and development of the Matra-Simca/Talbot-Matra Rancho, its variants, modifications, and special editions. With over 280 period photos, many previously unpublished, it provides a comprehensive view of the vehicle and is a reference for owners, enthusiasts, and fans of distinctive cars.
Part of the "La voiture de mon père" series, it combines detailed information with a practical guide to this iconic model.

Les Simca 1300, 1500 /1301, 1501 de mon père

Presented in 1963, the 1300/1500 appeared at Simca at a key time in its history. The latest creations produced under the authority of the iconic Henri-Théodore Pigozzi, these cars had the difficult task of succeeding the Aronde and Ariane. Their arrival proved crucial in supporting the 1000 and thus constituting the new Simca offering.
With a classic design, these 7/8 CV immediately delighted the public thanks to their pleasant and pure line accompanied by undeniable practical qualities. These models were very quickly available in Automatic and Estate versions, their ambition remaining the satisfaction of a large clientele, under the authority of the American manufacturer Chrysler, ever more present.
Restyled in 1301/1501, then inflated in Special versions, these productions armed themselves against increasingly fierce competition, while following market trends. At the end of their career and under transatlantic influence, these Simcas presented themselves as small French-style American cars.

Produced in more than one million three hundred thousand copies, these pretty cars from Poissy have been able to seduce a wide range of users, from the father of the family to the taxi driver, including the business manager, and all have kept a pleasant memory of them. The history of the manufacturer is not forgotten, nor are the tasty anecdotes, true souls of the heritage.

La Simca 1100 (1967-1985) - Une histoire des plus populaires

For a little over half a century, the Simca 1100 was born. Although it remains less famous than the emblematic Aronde or the endearing 1000, it nevertheless represents a milestone in the great automobile adventure. With it, the path was opened for compact but family cars, at ease in the city as in the countryside, on the road to the holidays as on the way back from the supermarket: it is the pioneer of modern compacts.
Becoming the best-selling car in France in 1972, it is, to this day, the last one that is neither a Peugeot nor a Renault to have reached this summit.

This book invites you to retrace the history of the Simca 1100 from its conception to the end of its career, in France, through a journey through time, illustrated with more than 400 period documents from all over Europe and North America, including many previously unpublished ones.

This book is the bound version of the Hors-série l'Aventure Automobile n°2.
