La Simca 1100 de mon père (2e édition)

Produced from 1967 to 1981 in more than two million units, the Simca 1100 enjoyed considerable commercial success at the time, and saw many variations and derivatives including the Matra Rancho, vans, black and white versions intended for the police, or even the sports 1100 TI versions and competition models intended for the biggest rallies of the 1970s.

Characterized by its front-wheel drive, its tailgate, its four-wheel independent suspension and its five-bearing engine, the Simca 1100 was long considered one of the most modern cars of its time.

La Rancho de mon père

With the Rancho, Matra happily surfed the wave of the 1970s rural escape, where the green motorcycle had found a place among bucolic leisure activities. Also, to get away from the well-trodden path of sports vehicles, Philippe Guédon had the intuition to create a "green car", halfway between the Méhari and the Range-Rover. His team imagined a leisure car, with the look of a 4x4 with a trendy look, based on the Simca 1100 in its VF2 pick-up version.

Produced in 56 457 units from 1977 to 1984, the Rancho enjoyed unexpected success for Matra and Simca. Equipped with the 1442 cm³ engine, it is a front-wheel drive whose crossing qualities have been optimized to allow it to crisscross sunken roads, discovering nature. It has brought joy to many families who were attracted by its friendly appearance, but also to traders and craftsmen who were interested in its generous loading volume (from 1005 dm3 to 2200 dm3) for multiple transports.

  • Richly illustrated, this book is dedicated to the famous Matra-Simca Rancho of the years 1977-1984.
  • Retraces in detail the history and evolution of the Matra-Simca / Talbot-Matra Rancho.
  • This volume of the collection "La voiture de mon père" is not only a source of in-depth information for the owner, but also a concise guide to originality.
  • The technique, variants, modifications and special versions are described in detail.
  • Contains more than 280 period photos, often unpublished.

La Simca 1100 (1967-1985) - Une histoire des plus populaires

For a little over half a century, the Simca 1100 was born. Although it remains less famous than the emblematic Aronde or the endearing 1000, it nevertheless represents a milestone in the great automobile adventure. With it, the path was opened for compact but family cars, at ease in the city as in the countryside, on the road to the holidays as on the way back from the supermarket: it is the pioneer of modern compacts.
Becoming the best-selling car in France in 1972, it is, to this day, the last one that is neither a Peugeot nor a Renault to have reached this summit.

This book invites you to retrace the history of the Simca 1100 from its conception to the end of its career, in France, through a journey through time, illustrated with more than 400 period documents from all over Europe and North America, including many previously unpublished ones.

This book is the bound version of the Hors-série l'Aventure Automobile n°2.

Les Simca 1300, 1500 /1301, 1501 de mon père

Presented in 1963, the 1300/1500 appeared at Simca at a key time in its history. The latest creations produced under the authority of the iconic Henri-Théodore Pigozzi, these cars had the difficult task of succeeding the Aronde and Ariane. Their arrival proved crucial in supporting the 1000 and thus constituting the new Simca offering.
With a classic design, these 7/8 CV immediately delighted the public thanks to their pleasant and pure line accompanied by undeniable practical qualities. These models were very quickly available in Automatic and Estate versions, their ambition remaining the satisfaction of a large clientele, under the authority of the American manufacturer Chrysler, ever more present.
Restyled in 1301/1501, then inflated in Special versions, these productions armed themselves against increasingly fierce competition, while following market trends. At the end of their career and under transatlantic influence, these Simcas presented themselves as small French-style American cars.

Produced in more than one million three hundred thousand copies, these pretty cars from Poissy have been able to seduce a wide range of users, from the father of the family to the taxi driver, including the business manager, and all have kept a pleasant memory of them. The history of the manufacturer is not forgotten, nor are the tasty anecdotes, true souls of the heritage.

Les Simca 1307, Solara et dérivés de mon père

Car of the Year 1976, the new Simca 1307/1308 quickly won over customers with its safety and road holding inherited from the Simca 1100. Its elegant line and fifth door made it a great commercial success. After the acquisition of Chrysler's European subsidiaries by PSA, the Talbot 1510 and Solara derived from it were the last heirs of the Simca from Poissy.

Find the genesis of this vehicle, the fruit of the joint work of Chrysler's European subsidiaries, and its developments year after year. As usual, the author pays particular attention to the special series that have punctuated its career and to the particularities of the versions built in foreign factories in England, Spain or Finland.

  • Richly illustrated, this book is dedicated to the famous Simca 1307/1308 and Solara series.
  • Retraces in detail the history and evolution.
