Histoire du materiel de motoculture

The tiller, born in the 1920s, at the same time as the tractor, actively participated in the motorization of specialized agriculture and occupied an important place there until the 1970s-1980s.
The motor mower, also appeared in the 1930s, revolutionized haymaking in the mountains from 1950 and allowed farmers to free themselves from the manual labor that existed until then.

It is the tiller and the miniaturization of engines that are at the origin of all the motorized gardening equipment that has appeared since, such as motor hoes, motor mowers, chainsaws, brush cutters, hedge trimmers or plant shredders, and have given birth to a new profession: recreational motorized cultivation.

The author, an actor in this period, brings back to life the journey of the pioneers of the motorization of horticulture, viticulture and small-scale agriculture. He supports his story with testimonies from survivors of this period or their heirs who, as passionate collectors, have preserved the equipment and documents of the time.
