Tracteurs agricoles Someca - 50 ans d'histoire en prospectus
SIMCA, founded in 1934, built automobiles in France and began importing Fiat and Steyr tractors until the 1960s.
In 1953, SIMCA bought the MAP firm to serve as a basis for the creation of the Société de mécanique de la Seine (SOMECA), intended to produce the first SIMCA tractors and parts for the latest MAP tractors.
The first SOMECA, the DA 50, developed 37 hp at 1500 rpm. The following models, the 40 and 55 were quickly supplemented by the 615 and 715.
In 1960, more than 40, 000 SOMECA units based on Fiat were produced. Today, Fiat is the majority shareholder of SOMECA and is part of the New Holland group.
All farmers know or have used SOMECA tractors. Others have dreamed of them or have decried them. They always started at the quarter turn and produced a characteristic powerful noise. There were the die-hard fans and those who said that they made so much noise in the cabin that the bosses never drove them...
Still, Someca did not leave anyone indifferent. Even today, French small country roads are crisscrossed by these highly sought-after orange tractors.
Find out the evolution of the Someca tractor through advertisements dating back to 1953. Enjoy a trip into the advertising past of the Someca tractor!
