The Eicher company is one of the "Big Five", the handful of German tractor brands that are still on everyone's lips today. Eicher always built high-quality, extremely reliable and durable tractors that were at the forefront of the German tractor industry.
Despite all of its qualities, however, the company was not big enough to survive the periodic crises in agriculture unscathed. Eicher went bankrupt in 1985; however, the former subsidiary still builds Eicher tractors today. Ulf Kaack's Typenkompass provides a good overview of the history of the legendary farm horses.
