Breguet Atlantic - In dienst bij de Marine Luchtvaartdienst 1969 - 1984

De Atlantic is als NAVO-project in de 50-er jaren van de vorige eeuw ontwikkeld. Als de ministerraad in juli 1968 besluit om negen vliegtuigen van het type te bestellen zijn delen van de productielijn al gesloten. De eerste vier Atlantics voor de marineluchtvaartdienst zijn dan ook oorspronkelijk bestemd voor de Franse (en Duitse) marine.
Door de marine wordt de Atlantic aangeschaft omdat door het buitendienst stellen van het vliegkampschip Hr. Ms. Karel Doorman de daarop gebaseerde vliegtuigen, bestemd voor de onderzeebootbestrijding, door beperkte capaciteit niet meer functioneren.
Bij de marineluchtvaartdienst wordt de Atlantic aangeduid als SP-13A en in gebruik genomen bij het VSQ 321 op het Marine Vliegkamp Valkenburg. De Atlantics krijgen de registraties 250 tot en met 258.

Zowel in nationaal als internationaal verband wordt door het VSQ 321 met de Atlantic deelgenomen aan oefeningen. Met detacheringen in voornamelijk Duitsland, Frankrijk, Noorwegen, het Verenigd Koninkrijk en IJsland is de Nederlandse Atlantic jarenlang een bekende verschijning in het internationale luchtruim.
In tegenstelling tot de Neptune van VSQ 320 is de Atlantic sporadisch te zien in het Caribische gebied.

De plaatsvervangend Chef van de Marinestaf schrijft eind 1974 dat de ernstige aanloopmoeilijkheden na de indienstneming bij de marineluchtvaartdienst op het gebied van logistiek en documentatie praktisch zijn verholpen en de materiële gereedheid zeer redelijk is. De Atlantic is operationeel goed bruikbaar maar niet meer een modern wapensysteem. De Atlantics moeten dan ook in het begin van de 80-er jaren worden vervangen.
Op 1 januari 1985 valt het doek. De Atlantic is van 1969 tot en met 1984 bij de marineluchtvaartdienst in gebruik geweest.

Breguet 1050 Alizé

The Breguet Alizé, a carrier-based aircraft designed for anti-submarine warfare, was developed from the Breguet Br 960 Vultur. The first prototype made its maiden flight in October 1956, but the first pre-production examples were not delivered until 1959 following a long modification period.

In France, the aircraft were used on the aircraft carriers Clémenceau, Foch and Arromanches and on land for training. They were engaged for numerous reconnaissance missions in Lebanon in the 1980s, in the Persian Gulf during Operation Salamandre, then in Kosovo in 1999 as part of NATO. The last aircraft was withdrawn from service in 2000 with the reform of the Foch.

Breguet 693 - Le 'Lion' de l'aviation d'assaut

The Breguet 693 had its baptism of fire in May 1940: eleven aircraft of the GBA 1/54 were engaged in the Maastricht region against the German columns. Unfortunately, the ground assault tactics used proved disastrous, making the aircraft particularly vulnerable and ten of them, decimated by Flak, did not return.

A twin-engine, two-seater bomber carrying a pilot and a gunner placed back to back, the Breguet 693 was also one of the first French aircraft to be equipped with radio.
Like many units, the assault groups were withdrawn to North Africa and due to the German occupation, the model did not see any further development.
