VAP 1944-1967 - Le plus sur chemin sur deux roues ...
The ABG company (a merger of the ARIES, La Bougie BG and SFEDR companies) which became SA ABG was the largest French manufacturer of auxiliary engines as well as the third largest manufacturer of mopeds from the end of the Second World War to the end of the 1960s. It constantly sought to compete with the famous Mobylette from Motobécane and the untouchable VéloSolex from SACEM.
A major aeronautical subcontractor with recognized expertise, ABG also became the VAP engine manufacturer with a European reputation which equipped the mopeds and motor-assisted bicycles of many assemblers.
From the birth of La Bougie BG, to the end of VAP SA, via the Vélovap and the five world records, discover this fabulous human and industrial adventure which still continues on both sides of the Atlantic through more than 500 period photos and documents and testimonies from the main players in this prodigious technological and human success.
