Moto Gilera - Un secolo di tecnica e sport

This illustrated book presents the full history of Gilera from its foundation in 1909 by Giuseppe Gilera to the present day. It explains how the company quickly gained a strong reputation thanks to its production motorcycles and its early racing achievements, including two victories in the International Six Days Trial and success in the European Speed Championship before the Second World War.

Gilera continued its racing activities for many decades and entered a new phase in the 1990s. More than a century after its beginnings, the brand is now also active in the scooter sector.

A clear overview of Gilera's industrial and sporting development is combined with a complete catalogue of all models produced since 1909. The book is intended as a reliable reference for motorcycle enthusiasts, especially those interested in the Gilera marque.

Gilera Saturno

The "Saturno, " designed by Gilera engineers in the pre-war period and mass-produced immediately after the war, is one of the most celebrated motorcycles among two-wheel enthusiasts. This is largely due to the versatility of the machines that used this sharply designed engine, one of the most beautiful Italian motorcycling has ever produced: touring machines, sports bikes, military vehicles, and competition bikes for both pure speed and motocross.

The competition models are the ones that attract the most interest: the "Sanremo" and then the "Piuma" with telescopic suspension racked up hundreds of victories. On the road, the production models allowed accelerations and lean angles difficult to achieve with other contemporary motorcycles.

In these pages, we have attempted to condense as much as possible the career and evolution of this motorcycle, now a favorite of collectors.
