De Rolls-Royce Merlin is een van de beroemdste vliegtuigmotoren in de geschiedenis. Sunbeam Aero Engines

De Sunbeam Motor Car Company, de eerste grote Britse vliegtuigmotormaker, betrad in 1912 de luchtvaartindustrie. Ze waren één van de eersten die een vliegtuig kochten voor motortests, gevlogen door de beroemde testpiloot Jack Alcock.
