Fokker S14 Machtrainer

De Fokker S-14 Machtrainer was het eerste Nederlandse straalvliegtuig en de eerste speciaal ontworpen straaltrainer ter wereld. Eerdere toestellen in deze categorie waren slechts tweezitsversies van bestaande jachtvliegtuigen. Fokker verwachtte grote internationale belangstelling, zowel uit NAVO-landen als daarbuiten.

De praktijk verliep anders. Door aarzelende besluitvorming binnen de NAVO, de keuze van de Koninklijke Luchtmacht voor de T-33 voor de gevorderde vliegopleiding en het gebrek aan vertrouwen binnen de directie van Fokker kreeg de S-14 geen echte kans. De bestelling van 20 toestellen door de Nederlandse luchtmacht bleef daarmee vooral symbolisch.
