Dornier Do X - The Story of Claude Dornier's Legendary Flying Boat
Though only three were produced in late-1920s/early-1930s Germany, the Dornier Do X was the largest flying boat of its time and flew passengers on international flights in extreme comfort during the pre-World War II years. Powered by twelve engines, the aircraft could accommodate over 100 passengers and crew and included sleeping and dining areas.
This detailed and highly illustrated book covers the design, development and construction of the Do X, then explores its initial testing and short but historic use as an international airliner, and lastly discusses the ultimate fate of all three examples.
The superb collection of photographs includes rare images of the Do X's construction, flights, crew, and luxurious fittings - including many of its interior features, furniture, vintage ephemera and place settings.

Die Dornier Do 22 wurde im Auftrag Jugoslawiens von einem der berühmtesten deutschen Flugzeughersteller entwickelt, gelangte jedoch nie in den Dienst der Luftwaffe und war als einer der Randflugzeugtypen zur Bedeutungslosigkeit verdammt.
Mit nur 29 gebauten Exemplaren, einschließlich des einzigen Prototyps, war die Do 22 für die Dornier-Werke kein großer Erfolg. Daher erhielt sie in der Luftfahrtgeschichte nicht die Aufmerksamkeit, die sie verdient hätte. Ihr besonderer Einsatz bei den Luftstreitkräften des Königreichs Jugoslawien, des Königreichs Griechenland und Finnland wurde bisher nur oberflächlich behandelt. Perhaps the most seaworthy flying boat ever built, the elegant, tri-motor Dornier Do 24 served with both the Allied and Axis forces in very different parts of the globe during World War 2, garnering an excellent reputation along the way. This study uses archival records, first-hand accounts and revealing photographs to illuminate the combat career of this remarkable aircraft for the first time in English. The German-built Do 24 was the Netherlands Navy's principal aerial asset during the Japanese invasion of the East Indies. While the survivors of that ordeal served in the Australian Air force, in occupied Holland and France production continued apace and the Do 24 equipped the German Air-Sea rescue service, whose crews loved and respected the machine. The type witnessed the rise and fall of the Luftwaffe over all the European seas, took part in the desperate evacuations of Wehrmacht troops on the Baltic in the face of the overwhelming Soviet advance, and was pressed out of service only with the withdrawal of Spanish Do 24s in 1969. This volume tells the long and eventful story of the faithful Do 24 in full.

Dornier Wal - de eerste grote zeeverkenner van de Marine Luchtvaartdienst
Innerhalb der großen Flugboote, die vor dem Zweiten Weltkrieg beim Marine-Luftdienst eingesetzt wurden, nahm die Dornier Wal eine besondere Stellung ein. Sie war das erste maritime Aufklärungsflugzeug, das in Serie an die Königliche Marine in Niederländisch-Indien geliefert wurde und dort fast achtzehn Jahre im Einsatz stand.
Auch in der niederländischen Zivilluftfahrt spielte dieser zweimotorige Hochdecker eine wichtige Rolle. Als erstes vollständig aus Leichtmetall gebautes Flugboot wurde die Wal ab 1927 von Aviolanda in Papendrecht in Lizenz gefertigt.
Das Buch bietet einen umfassenden Überblick über Entwicklung, Einsatz und Bedeutung des Musters.
