In this sixth and final illustrated book on the Esslingen machine factory, Alexander Weber presents the company's steam locomotive production, which has been the basis of the group since its founding in 1846 and the nucleus of the later L department.
In almost 120 years, this has produced locomotive classics such as the Württemberg classes C and K, the Reichsbahn standard locomotives of the series 44, 50, 64 and others, the last DB steam locomotive series 23 and numerous other designs for domestic and foreign customers.

Vectron - Moderne Siemens-Lokomotiven für Europa

Ten years ago, Siemens presented the "Vectron", a new locomotive platform for European traffic. It is the technical successor to the tried and tested Siemens locomotives of the EuroSprinter family and has quickly become a real bestseller at Siemens. Within just ten years, the production mark of the 1000th machine was reached.

The largest part of the Vectron platform is made up of modern electric locomotives, which are produced as two-system alternating current locomotives (Vectron AC), as pure direct current locomotives (Vectron DC) or as multi-system locomotives (Vectron MS) depending on the purpose and area of use.

Maybach-Motoren und Automobile im Rhein-Neckar-Dreieck und der Pfalz

Cet ouvrage recense, outre les véhicules équipés de moteurs Maybach, tous les véhicules terrestres, maritimes ou aériens qui en sont dotés, dans la région désignée ou au-dessus. Conçu comme une documentation chronologique, il comprend une bibliographie exhaustive avec des références bibliographiques et photographiques complémentaires, ainsi qu'un index détaillé des sujets, des lieux et des personnes.

Ce travail de documentation a été motivé par le passage, les 4 et 5 août 1908, du dirigeable Zeppelin LZ 4 au-dessus de la région. Par la suite, et jusqu'en 1940, de nombreux survols furent effectués par des dirigeables légendaires. À cet égard, de nombreux centenaires seront commémorés dans les prochaines années, et cette documentation pourra servir de référence et fournir des informations, notamment sur les personnes impliquées et sur l'histoire des vols en ballon.

Il est également souligné que la société de dirigeables Schüttte-Lanz, basée à Mannheim-Rheinau, a livré de nombreux dirigeables militaires, les dirigeables dits SL, pendant la Première Guerre mondiale, notamment pour des opérations depuis le hangar à dirigeables de l'armée de Mannheim-Sandhofen.
D'autres chapitres rendent compte de la fabrication des automobiles Maybach, de haute qualité mais coûteuses, et de leurs propriétaires dans le triangle Rhin-Neckar et le Palatinat entre les deux guerres mondiales, ainsi que des expositions de la marque Maybach dans les musées.

Un chapitre détaillé est consacré à la traction ferroviaire et à Franz Kruckenberg, qui a choisi de vivre à Heidelberg, en tant que concepteur principal du légendaire zeppelin ferroviaire et d'autres véhicules ferroviaires.
Enfin, une annexe sur les moteurs fabriqués par Maybach au début des années 1920 pour les motos MARS, tout aussi exclusives, confirme la large gamme d'options de production dont disposait la société Maybach, y compris leur distribution dans le triangle Rhin-Neckar et le Palatinat à l'époque.

Depuis plus de six générations, la famille Henschel façonne la vie à Kassel. Fondée en 1810 par Georg Christian Carl Henschel comme fonderie, l'usine Henschel est devenue l'une des plus importantes usines de machines et de véhicules d'Allemagne.
Au fil des décennies, ils ont connu tous les hauts et tous les bas: l'inflation et la Grande Dépression, la période où ils ont servi d'usine d'armement pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale et les années d'après-guerre.
