The London Enviro 200
NEW
Introduced by Transbus in 2004, the initial Enviro 200 model faced limited success. A redesigned version was unveiled in 2006, proving to be more prosperous. Embraced by numerous London operators, this iteration supplanted older single-deckers in their fleets. Much like its forerunner, the Dennis Dart SLF, the Enviro 200 achieved notable success and was available in various lengths.
In 2014, the Enviro 200 MMC (Major Model Change) was launched, ultimately replacing the original 'classic' Enviro 200 in 2018. London witnessed the debut of the first all-electric Enviro 200 MMCs in 2016, subsequently becoming the standard model for new contracts. "The London Enviro 200" meticulously examines the historical journey of the Enviro 200 and Enviro 200 MMC models in London's service, providing a comprehensive account of their evolution and impact on the city's public transport landscape.
The Enviro200, initially introduced by Transbus International in 2003 as a midibus, faced initial setbacks. However, a successful relaunch in 2006 transformed it into a widely adopted model by operators globally. Positioned as a successor to the ALX200 and Plaxton Pointer models, the Enviro200 gained particular favor among London operators.
In 2014, Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL) introduced the MMC (Major Model Change) version, coexisting with the 'Classic' model until its discontinuation in 2015. The year 2018 saw the introduction of an extended Enviro200 MMC, supplanting the Enviro 300 saloon. Maintaining versatility, the Enviro200 series offers various lengths to accommodate the diverse requirements of operators. Here is a wonderful collection of 180 photographs, some previously unpublished, celebrating the London's Enviro200 Buses.

Developed by Alexander Dennis in 2005 as an all-encompassing replacement for the Dennis Trident and its two bodies, the Plaxton President and Alexander ALX400, the integral Enviro400, immediately sold in large numbers, not least to London operators, which in the next eight years bought over 1,500 of them.
Late in the production run, the hybrid E40H was introduced and also made good headway in London, funded largely by environmental grants. Nearly 300 of these are in service in London.
Valid to May 2015, this book finishes by introducing the MMC, the all-new development of the Enviro400 unveiled in 2014 and exemplified in London so far by two batches for Abellio and Metroline.
The Enviro400 was introduced in 2005 and has become a popular model among bus operators around the UK, as well as in Hong Kong. Initially available as a diesel, the model was adapted to a hybrid example known as the Enviro400 H.
With a small change in body style introduced in 2009, Alexander Dennis Ltd relaunched the Enviro400 in 2014 as the Enviro400 MMC. A year later a third version was constructed, this being named the Enviro400 City. This latter model was originally constructed for use in London though there were sales in other towns and cities across the UK. The Enviro400 has become a familiar sight on the streets of London.
