In dit boek kijken we naar de hoogtijdagen van de populairste lichte vrachtwagen van de jaren vijftig: De Opel Blitz van het modeljaar 1952.
De Blitz met de 'ronde neus' bleek voor veel kleine zelfstandigen de ideale wagen. Van kolenboer tot melkrijder en van groenteboer tot oud-ijzerhandelaar. En het was voor veel van deze vaak kleine bedrijven de eerste nieuwe vrachtwagen die zij aan konden schaffen na de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Wat dat betreft maakte hij dus op zijn eigen manier deel uit van de periode van wederopbouw.
De Opel Blitz van '52 kwam ook prominent in beeld in de bekendste Nederlandse speelfilm uit de jaren vijftig: 'Fanfare' van Bert Haanstra.
