Diamond T Trucks 1911-1966 Photo Archive

De Diamond T Motor Car Company te Chicago vervaardigde personenwagens tot 1911. Het succes van een eerste vrachtwagen, aangekocht door een tevreden autoklant, leidde al snel tot de exclusieve productie van trucks. Diamond T, volgens de reclameslogans "The Handsomest Truck in America" verwierf een legendarische status en was ook technisch vooruitstrevend.
Terwijl Diamond T tijdens de Eerste Wereldoorlog meer dan 1.500 Class B Liberty trucks produceerde, rolden in de Tweede Wereldoorlog bijna 50.000 trucks, half-tracks, bergingstrucks en tanktransporteurs uit de fabriek. De late jaren veertig draaide Diamond T een recordproductie, maar in de loop van de jaren vijftig werd het voor Diamond T problematisch om onafhankelijk te blijven.
De White Motor Company nam Diamond T over in 1958. De productie werd 2 jaar later overgebracht naar de Reo fabrieken te Lansing, Michigan. Zowel Diamond T als Reo verdwenen als afzonderlijk merk in 1967, toen White's nieuwe Diamond Reo Division met de productie van Diamond Reo trucks begon.

Between 1940 and 1945, the Diamond T Motor Car Company delivered just over 50 000 vehicles to the American army and the Allies. In this production, just over 30 000 were 4-ton, 6x6 heavy trucks, which would have many versions: cargo, tow truck, pontoon carrier, engineering dump truck, cartographic box, etc.

The "Diamond" would be present in all theaters of operations, where its robustness and reliability would allow it to take on all tasks without weakening. Due to its expertise in heavy machinery, Diamond T would also be used for the production of the famous Half-track, with more than 10 000 units.
All of these models are described in this book by a great specialist on the subject, using archives and hundreds of period photos.
