Audi A2
When the first Audi A2 rolled off the production line in Neckarsulm in 1999, it was destined for great things: it was supposed to shake up the compact car market. Instead, the A2 passed unnoticed by the market. But even if it was not very popular at the time, today it is a sought-after classic - as a youngtimer on the used car market.
The Audi A2 was simply ahead of its time. The unusual van-like shape and the comparatively high price put off potential buyers at the time. But the A2 was a true milestone in automotive technology.
With its lightweight aluminum body, extremely low air resistance and economical engines, the smallest Audi of its time can still keep up with many current small car models today. Hardly any other small car at the time could offer the high-quality equipment with air conditioning, glass sunroof and leather seats, which were available on request.
In this book, Dirk-Michael Conradt tells the whole story of the small premium car. The experienced motor journalist and former editor-in-chief of the magazines Motor Klassik and sport auto is himself an A2 driver and fan.
