Alfieri Maserati came from a family of seven brothers who were all car enthusiasts. In 1914, he created the "Società Anonima Officine Alfieri Maserati" in Bologna with his brothers Ettore and Ernesto, responsible for developing racing cars for the Diatto car brand. In 1920, Diatto retired from racing and sold a stock of parts to the Officine Alfieri to create the Maserati Tipo 26, which made history in motor racing with over a hundred victories.
Alfieri died in 1932 following a racing accident. Another of his brothers, Bindo, replaced him at the head of the company. Exclusively focused on racing, financial difficulties arose.

In 1937, the Orsi family bought Maserati. It was not until the Tipo A6 of 1946 that the first production cars appeared. In 1968, Citroën took over from Orsi. Then came De Tomaso in 1975, Chrysler in 1983 and Fiat in 1987. Maseratis were born for competition and throughout their existence have kept these deep genes, combined with luxury and comfort.
