MAN - seit 1915 (Typenkompass)
In 2015, the truck brand MAN celebrated its 100th birthday. A proud anniversary when you consider how few of the once numerous German truck manufacturers still exist today. Today, MAN belongs to the Volkswagen Group and, alongside Daimler, is still the most important German truck manufacturer.
Reason enough for Wolfgang Westerwelle to review the truck models from more than 100 years of MAN history in this Typenkompass: the author's type portraits range from the beginnings in 1915, the first in-house designs in the 1920s, the difficult new start after the Second World War, to the present in the VW Group.
MAN - Kurzhauber und Pausbacke (Schrader Typen Chronik)
In this volume, Wolfgang Westerwelle presents the history of the round MAN short-hood trucks, which made truck history as "Pontonhauber" from 1955 onwards. He also looks at their "chubby relatives", the MAN front-steer trucks of that time.
With the help of original photos, advertising and brochure material from the MAN archive, a vivid picture of that era, which lasted well into the 1970s, is drawn. A special feature is the print of a brochure from 1962, which provides all the contemporary information on the 415 H cab-over truck and the 415 F front-loader truck built in parallel.
The Maschinenfabrik Augsburg Nürnberg, known today almost exclusively by its abbreviation MAN, was the result of a merger of the companies Maschinenbau Aktiengesellschaft Nürnberg and Aktiengesellschaft Maschinenfabrik Augsburg in 1898. Today the company belongs to the Volkswagen Group, but nothing has changed in the company's position: MAN is, alongside Daimler, the most important German truck manufacturer.
In this volume, Wolfgang Westerwelle documents the history of MAN and its trucks from its beginnings to the present day.
