VW LT: Alle Modelle 1975 bis 1996
The VW LT, known as a versatile transporter, covered a wide range from 2.8 to 5.6 tonnes in its first model generation. Introduced in 1975, it was developed as a competitor to the Mercedes 206/207 and the Ford Transit.
It targeted commercial users for whom the T2 and later the T3 were too small. With many body versions, from panel van to cash-transport vehicle, the LT offered broad practical use.
Additional conversions for fire and rescue services expanded its applications. Bus and motorhome manufacturers also used the model's technical potential. Many LT vehicles remain in service after more than 30 years, both in trade businesses and among motorhome enthusiasts.
Commercial-vehicle specialist and journalist Matthias Röcke presents the development and use of the first large VW transporter, built until 1996. Numerous previously unpublished photos complement the account.
