Jet Flying Boats

Es sollten noch zwanzig Jahre vergehen, bis eine neue Generation mehrmotoriger Flugboote die Reißbretter führender Luft- und Raumfahrtunternehmen verließ, um nicht nur ihre traditionellen militärischen Aufgaben der maritimen Aufklärung und Such- und Rettungsdienste erfolgreich zu erfüllen, sondern auch eine Aufgabe, bei der sie sich als sehr geschickt erwiesen haben: die der Brandbekämpfung aus der Luft.

Derzeit wird in China das zweimotorige Turboprop-betriebene zwölfsitzige Amphibienflugzeug Dornier Seastar gebaut. China entwickelt außerdem das Such- und Rettungsamphibienflugzeug AG600 für die chinesische Marine.
Es gab bereits eine Reihe erfolgreicher Turboprop-Umbauten von Kolbenmotor-Flugbooten wie der Grumman Mallard und den Canadair CL-215 Amphibienflugzeugen.
