BAE Systems Harrier II & Boeing AV-8B: Flying with air forces around the world (Duke Hawkins)

This beautiful Duke Hawkins photo book extensively presents the BAE Systems Harrier II and Boeing AV-8B, in service with the Royal Air Force and US Marine Corps plus the Italian and Spanish Navies.
The book contains not only action photos, but many " walkaround" photos that show details of the aircraft from different angles. Chapters on cockpit (single-seater and two-seater), fuselage, armament and maintenance work.

The series "Aircraft in Detail" arose from the collaboration between pilots, aircraft technicians and modellers. This volume (No. 11) on the BAE Harrier II and Boeing AV-8B is illustrated with over 400 very high quality color photographs, most of which have never been published before.

Boeing Field

Even before there were runways, the area south of the city of Seattle was Washington's aviation hub. Charles Hamilton, a daredevil dubbed "Crazy Man of the Air," became the first flyer in the state when he coaxed his Curtiss biplane into the sky over Meadows Racetrack in 1910. He promptly crashed.

With the help of William Boeing and his growing aviation company, Boeing Field opened in 1928. In those early days, brave air travelers could hitch a ride along with bags of mail in cold, noisy biplanes. Bigger, better aircraft soon followed, but wartime intervened.
Thousands of Flying Fortress bombers emerged from Boeing's Plant 2 at the edge of the airfield and winged off to war. In the years after, Boeing Field served a dazzling array of winged machines - from the smallest Piper Cub to Air Force One.

Founded in 1916 by William E. Boeing, a wealthy timber merchant, the mighty Boeing Company's 100-year history spans decades of rich achievement and technological development.
Beginning with the manufacture of seaplanes, fighters and, from the 1930s onwards, huge bombers, Boeing pioneered innovative transports - gigantic airliners, missiles, rockets and most recently vehicles for space exploration and satellites.

Constantly evolving, Boeing set out to develop an entirely new jet transport, and in 1954 the innovative 707 appeared. The 727 and 737 airliners quickly followed and in 1969 the revolutionary 747. By 1975 the 'Jumbo Jet' was being produced in seven different models and new versions continue to be developed to this day.

Boeing YC-14 - US Air Force Experimental STOL Aircraft (Legends of Warfare)

El Boeing YC-14, que voló por primera vez en 1976, fue un logro revolucionario en el diseño de aeronaves. C-17 Globemaster

El Boeing C-17 Globemaster III es el avión de transporte militar pesado más moderno de las fuerzas occidentales. Cuenta con capacidades de despegue y aterrizaje cortos y puede operar desde pistas no preparadas. El uso de los inversores de empuje en vuelo permite aproximaciones de aterrizaje pronunciadas y reduce el riesgo de fuego enemigo. Además, el avión puede desplegar tropas y carga desde cualquier altitud.

Estas características hacen del C-17 una aeronave muy versátil. Desde su entrada en servicio en la Fuerza Aérea de Estados Unidos en 1993, ha demostrado su eficacia en casi todos los conflictos con participación estadounidense. Más recientemente, en agosto de 2021, un solo avión evacuó a 823 personas de Kabul.
