Le VeloSolex de mon père
Created in 1940 by Marcel Mennesson, the VéloSolex has, for decades, left the trace of its dark image of "bicycle that rolls all by itself" thanks to the Solexine. Whether in the city or in the countryside, it has left indelible marks on the memory of several generations.
Richly illustrated, this book traces in detail the history and evolution of the VéloSolex.
This volume of the collection "La moto de mon père" is not only a source of in-depth information for the owner, but also a concise guide to originality.
The technique, variants, modifications and special versions are described in detail.
Discover the little-known history of Solex racing, where the protagonists are capable of all extravagances for the pleasure of mechanics or just for the beauty of the gesture. The author, a participant and connoisseur, has delved into his memories and archives to revisit the evolution of racing. He approaches this economical and local mechanical sport from both a technical point of view and that of the organizations, volunteers and drivers. All these passionate actors of Solex racing for half a century deserve to have a book dedicated to them.
The industrial history of VéloSolex has lasted four decades. The racing history has lasted for half a century and the future is already on the circuits with the relaunch of the brand.
Le tour du monde à VéloSolex - 4 continents, 18.000 km, 14 mois
From July 4, 2009 to August 21, 2010, Paul-Henri and Ophélie Vanthournout (brother and sister in real life) traveled around the world on a Solex. An old, obsolete and outdated thing? Not so sure when you see the enthusiasm of the people they met during their journey.
Ahead of its time, the Solex (put into circulation in the 1960s) remains one of the least polluting vehicles in the world! It has never been picky and has digested 89 to 102 octane. Its only requirement: (very?) good quality oil. A simple and friendly means of transport, it served as an excuse for them to meet and a real passport in situations, each one more comical than the last. This well-illustrated book tells us about an 18.000 km journey across four continents.
