In the early 1990s, Manta drivers were considered the East Frisians among drivers and were often seen as figures of fun. Opel had serious intentions when it put the solid Ascona in an elegant coupé guise to successfully compete against Ford's Capri. This move was so successful that a new edition followed in 1976. The Opel Manta then remained in the range in various versions for an impressive 12 years before it was finally replaced by the Calibra. Today, the Manta is long considered a serious classic.
In this volume, enriched with numerous historical photos, documents and brochures, Alexander F. Storz creates a worthy monument to the Opel Manta.

Within 18 years, the Manta won the hearts of its fans and, as the Type 8, became the Opel with the longest production period. In total, more than a million examples of the crowd favorite rolled onto the road. Countless sporting successes on the rallies and race tracks of Europe documented the state of the art of its robust technology right up to the very end.
The big Manta book traces the history of the sporty coupe from Rüsselsheim: from its beginnings in 1970 to the end of production in 1988. A wealth of photos, some of which have not yet been published, the complete technical data and also the description of the special models round off the documentation of the million-dollar success.
