The Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn (MGB) is one of the best known and most spectacular narrow gauge railways in Switzerland. No wonder, because the world-famous Glacier Express runs along its route from St. Moritz to Zermatt. It has a track width of 1, 000 mm. The ten-year-old railway company was formed in early summer 2003 through the merger of the Brig-Visp-Zermatt-Bahn (BVZ) and the Furka-Oberalp-Bahn (FO).
