Rover SD1 - The Full Story 1976-1986

Rover's large hatchback saloon of the 1970s and 1980s combined style, performance, and practicality. Designed by experienced Rover engineers with input from Triumph, the SD1 featured a sleek design inspired by Italian supercars while offering the versatility of a spacious hatchback.

The top models were powered by the same V8 engines as earlier Rover classics, adding to their appeal. However, the SD1 had both strengths and weaknesses, from its promising concept to the challenges faced during production.

In this book, Rover historian James Taylor presents the complete history of the SD1, including its successes and flaws. With over 250 photographs, it covers:
- The background and development of the SD1
- The early models, often criticized, and the improved later versions
- The high-end Vitesse and Vanden Plas editions
- Special variants used abroad and by the police
- The SD1's role in motor sport
- Tips on buying and owning an SD1 today.

Secret Rovers - The Missing History of P8 and P9

NUOVO

In the late 1960s, Rover concentrated its full experience on a new luxury saloon known as P8. At the same time, it aimed to enter a new market segment with an advanced mid-engined sports car, developed as project P9. These ambitions were disrupted by the forced merger into British Leyland in 1968.

Rover was placed between Triumph and Jaguar, neither of which supported the sports car project, while Jaguar strongly opposed the new luxury saloon. As a result, Rover's plans were gradually weakened. The P9 sports car was cancelled in 1970, followed in 1971 by the P8 saloon, just six months before planned production. One year later, Rover itself disappeared as an independent company after being merged with Triumph.
