TWR's Le Mans Winning Jaguars

Tom Walkinshaw, a successful racing driver, transitioned from his racing career into a team boss role, leveraging his expertise in race preparation. After starting in MG Midget racing and moving through Formula Ford with Team Lotus, his career included roles at March and Ecurie Ecosse, and a stint with Ford in the 1974 British Touring Car Championship. In 1975, he founded Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR), guiding BMW, Rover, and Mazda to success.

In 1982, Walkinshaw secured a deal with Jaguar, forming TWR Jaguar and entering the 5.3-litre V12 Jaguar XJS in the 1984 European Touring Car Championship. This partnership led to success, with TWR Jaguar winning the Spa 24-hour race and numerous titles. TWR Jaguar also claimed victories at Le Mans, Daytona, and the World Manufacturers' Championship.

John Starkey's book covers the history of TWR Jaguars, from development to racing achievements. It details the team's success from 1983 to 1992, including the XJR models, and highlights key wins at Le Mans, Daytona, and the World Championship.
